Homeschool Projects

This weeks subject I'm teaching is binary numbers.  If you're interested you can take the binary test yourself here.

We have also begun looking at the character quality of obedience.  Besides Bible characters, we will be studying Oliver Cromwell together.  Here's the assignment if you're interested in doing it yourself...

Critter of the week

I was going to title this post "bug of the week", but knew someone would give me grief for being technically incorrect.  I then figured I could title it "insect of the week", but that wasn't any better.  I could title it "arachnid of the week", but then most people wouldn't understand.  That said, I shall title this post, "Critter of the week", and hopefully everyone will be happy.  To help gauge the size, this tarantula is in the bottom of a 3 liter jug.  He was at least 3 inches across.  We found him hanging on a curtain in the living room.

Fruit of the week

This is a chitimoya.  It's very sweet, and has a flavor all it's own.  Besides that, I think the picture does a better job describing it than I could.

Fun in the country

When I get a chance, I love getting out into the country.  This weekend I went with Pastor Santiago and his family to work on their cabin.  The work was low key, but it was just fun to get out of the city.

Projects this week

This week I had carpentry class with Juan and Josue.  Here are some pictures of the project.

Last Saturday

I've been debating whether to upload these pictures or not....   They may not be the most pleasant to look at, but they certainly depict part of the culture down here.  German's family all got together last Saturday to butcher the fatted pig.  It was a good time of fellowship... and yes the food was tasty too.  The skin/hide of the pig is probably everyone's favorite part.   You can see Kimberly holding a piece in one of the pictures.

Walk along the river

Here are some pictures of our walk along the river.  Most of the group missed a bridge on the way back.   Instead of taking a long detour, Pastor Santiago decided we would just take off our shoes and cross right there.  He just loves adventures of this sort.  The picture of him standing by himself in the river is just classic!  What a blessing to minister with him!

Retreat activities

Here are some pictures of different actives from the retreat.
