This Sunday I went for a picnic with the Ulloa family. Jorge Ulloa is the rector of the Bilingue school, and pastor of one of the Lutheran churches in Cuenca. They are long time family friends. German and I brought the chicken and the Ulloas supplied the rest of the food. We had a peasant lunch on the grass along the river in the town of Gualaseo. After lunch Cristian and I waded in the river while the rest watch and rested. After that we got in the van and drove to the top of a hill overlooking Gualaseo. There we had fun sliding down a grassy hill. Here are some pictures from the day.

A trip to Peru
Kind of on a whim, German and I decided to take trip to Peru last Saturday. We left at 5:00am and were home by 7:30pm. It was a fun time seeing new scenery and a new country. The biggest highlight was getting to the beach and being in Peru for my first time.

Church Picnic
It's Sunday today. After church everyone was invited to a picnic in a wooded area along a river. Everyone brought their own picnic lunch and we ate on the grass. After lunch, there were some games, skits, and of course an informal soccer game. Here are some pictures from the time.

I made it!
Thank you everyone for your prayers. I made it safely to Cuenca. Lord willing, this is where I'll be living for the next year.
I left MSP airport at 6:30am on the 8th along with Blanca. She is pastor Santiago's wife and had been in the US for a short visit. We had 7 hr layover in Miami, and then arrived in Guayaquil at about 10:00pm. After spending the night at a mission guest house, we drove over the mountains and arrived in Cuenca just after 2:00pm.
Now I've spent the last day settling in to the routine. Tomorrow morning I plan to meet with pastor Santiago to begin planning and scheduling my activities with the homeschool families.
